This month has certainly been eventful. Our rescue dachshund, Wilson, was accidentally stepped on by a buck in our front yard. We rushed him to the emergency room, fearing a broken back. Thankfully, it turned out to be just a fractured femur. However, we faced uncertainty about what would happen next. Wilson needed emergency surgery to save his leg, but we couldn't afford to leave him in the ER. I felt heartbroken and unsure of how to move forward.
In a moment of desperation, I launched a GoFundMe campaign, hoping to quickly raise the necessary funds required before the surgery could occur. By a stroke of luck, Nicholas had recently started his own painting company and secured a job just a week before Wilson’s accident. His client generously agreed to pay for the work in advance, providing us with the funds needed for Wilson’s recovery upfront. Unfortunately, this unexpected accident caught us off guard, as those funds were intended for rent, bills, groceries, and living expenses.
Our GoFundMe account is now active, and we are overwhelmed by the support we’ve received. Although the surgical expenses exceeded our expectations, we are incredibly grateful for the kindness shown to us. Our family is adjusting to a new normal, and Wilson’s recovery is vital for his healing. I’ve been at home with him, administering three different pain medications. He had his first check-up on Monday, and the surgeon believes he is doing well. We will only know the outcome of the surgery when Wilson has his radiographs in five weeks.
I am taking some time off from work at the golf shop, but I am still available to see clients at She, so please feel free to book your facials. This is a wonderful opportunity to rejuvenate, slow down, and take care of yourself. I specialize in therapeutic touch, and these facials are beneficial from the inside out!
I am truly thankful that we have a home for the holidays. Our landlords plan to return to their home that we rent in Eagle Crest in the spring. It’s another hurdle we will overcome, and we will be more prepared for it. For now, we’ve decorated for Christmas and are gearing up for a baking spree! We’re enjoying the Eagle Crest Christmas lights and looking forward to the sled hill. It’s the season, and there are so many things to be grateful for.
I am immensely thankful for this community and my clients. Their kindness and generosity have been a beacon of hope during this challenging time. The support we've received has not only aided Wilson but has also lifted our spirits and reminded us of the power of community. As we prepare for the holidays, we focus on creating joyful memories and cherishing the little moments that bring us happiness.
Wilson’s wagging tail, though a bit slower than before, stands as a testament to his resilience and the love surrounding him. Our family is coming together to ensure he is comfortable and showered with affection as he continues his healing journey. Meanwhile, our home is filled with the spirit of giving and gratitude, and we are excited to spread that joy through our festive decorations and holiday treats.
As we look ahead, we remain hopeful and optimistic. We are determined to navigate these challenges with grace and perseverance, knowing that we are not alone. Thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey—your kindness has truly made a difference. Here’s to a season filled with healing, hope, and heartfelt gratitude. May this holiday season bring warmth and joy to everyone as we celebrate the spirit of togetherness and the kindness that unites us. We are reminded that even in the face of adversity, there is always light to be found in the support of friends and community. As the year draws to a close, we hold onto the lessons learned and the love shared, ready to embrace the new year with open hearts and renewed strength.
Let us cherish these precious moments, savoring the laughter, shared stories, and the simple joys that make life beautiful. Whether through a warm hug, a heartfelt conversation, or a simple act of kindness, let us continue to uplift one another and spread the magic of the season. Here’s to new beginnings, the promise of healing, and a future filled with hope and happiness.
